Rev. Edward Cleo Bentz, age 90, passed into the loving arms of his Savior April 21, 2023, at Opp Health and Rehabilitation in Opp, Alabama.
Mr. Bentz was born in Arkansas and later relocated to Andalusia where he lived with his loving, late wife, Nancy. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 26, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home, 206 Stanley Avenue, Andalusia, Alabama. A graveside service and interment will be held Thursday, April 27, at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 20932 County Road 70, Andalusia, Alabama. Rev. Dan Marler will officiate. His favorite hymn, “Old Time Shouting” will be played.
During his lifetime, Rev. Bentz was always seen with a smile on face no matter where he was or what he was doing. His sermons were impactful and always seemed to “step on your toes” a little bit as he would say or “that’s how you know God is talking to you”. One heard often when asked, “you have a lesson to learn there,” and we always did. A true man of God, he lived the way he preached. His one passion besides the Lord was cheering on and watching girls’ softball.
He leaves behind to remember him, his stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Susan McNeal of Andalusia, and two brothers, Henry Eugene Bentz of Arkansas and Kenneth Lee Bentz of Queens, New York. He has several grandchildren that will be mourning his passing as well.
A regular member of River of Life Church in Andalusia, he enjoyed worshipping the Lord at many places and spreading the Gospel wherever he went.
Keahey Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
