Wilmer Wesley Richards, age 88, of Andalusia, passed into Paradise on May 14, 2023.
The family will receive friends at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel at 206 Stanley Avenue, Andalusia, AL, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Ann Richards, of Andalusia; his two sons, Gordon Richards of Mobile and Darren (Karen) Richards of Florala; his daughter, Tracy (Neal) Hebert of Houma, Louisiana, and his sister, Gay (Buddy) Parazine of Pensacola. He has seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Richards and Vivian Brown Richards, his son, Craig Richards, and his daughter, Lisa Moore.
Mr. Richards was born in Pensacola, Florida, where his love of the military and Mrs. Mary Ann Riley bloomed. He honorably served his country in the Marine Corps and then began a 36-year career at Solitia Chemical Plant in Pensacola, where he was the training foreman. He began his 58-year marriage to Mrs. Mary Ann during this time, and when he left Solitia and the Milton, Florida area in 1994, they relocated to Andalusia. Then, his dual titles of realtor for Advantage Realty and substitute teacher for Straughn School occupied his time. He was a Little League coach while in Florida, an outdoorsman, and a man of great faith. While in Milton, he attended First Baptist Church, and in Andalusia, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Gantt. In addition to all of this, his greatest love and blessing was his family. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. Mr. Wes, as many knew him, was a sweet and affable man, who never met a stranger. This earth has a void space that he occupied.
Keahey Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of these arrangements.
