Rebecca Irene Faulkenberry Johnson, 91 of Andalusia, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at her residence.
She was granddaughter of Henry Faulkenberry, one of the founding pioneers of Andalusia. She was a graduate of Andalusia High School and Montevallo when it was an all-girls college. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church and was married to Nick Johnson in May of 1958. They were the last couple to marry in the former location of FBC just off the square in Andalusia. They would have been married 65 years this year.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy R. Johnson-Sylvester. She passed peacefully in her home lovingly cared for by her incredible caregiver Meshell Anderson Marshall. She would have been 92 in June.
With love and endless appreciation, I must thank Meshell Anderson Marshall for taking care of both my parents, most recently my mother, Rebecca F. Johnson. Meshell was there for them 24 hours a day 7 days a week in their home. The value of them both being able to be at home is immeasurable. Without her I could have never made it through any of it. You are and will forever be part of our family. We love you, Meshell. Thank you! Thank you!
Sincerely, Joy R. Johnson/Sylvester
