Carl Mack Jeffcoat passed away on Feb. 20, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.

Carl Mack Jeffcoat

Born in 1935 in Searight, Alabama, to Alba Jeffcoat and Imogene (Weant) Jeffcoat, Carl grew up in Andalusia where he met his future wife of 63 years, Ann (Wishum) Jeffcoat.

He graduated from Andalusia High School in 1954. He was a member of the Honor Society, high school band, and was the Vice President of the junior class. Following graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the FBI. In 1957 he enrolled in Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University), earning a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1960 after co-oping, including time at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.

Carl and Ann married in their hometown of Andalusia at the First Methodist Church in December 1959. Upon graduation from Auburn, Carl joined AT&T, where he enjoyed a 30-year career. Working in the International Division of AT&T enabled Carl and Ann to travel to more than 40 countries. They spent many summers in Pensacola Beach, Florida, with family where, during one of these visits in 1972, they bought land to build a future retirement home. They resided in Gulf Breeze, Florida, after Carl retired in 1998 from ten years with Comsat in Washington, D.C. and lived there until relocating to Dallas, Texas, in 2022 to be near their daughter.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, brother Edwin “Ed” Jeffcoat, and son, Benjamin “Ben” Jeffcoat. After Ben’s untimely death in 2011, he and Ann established a scholarship for promising engineers at the Samuel Ginn School of Engineering at Auburn University.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Jeffcoat of Dallas, Texas; daughter Holly Jeffcoat of Dallas, Texas; and granddaughter Melanie Jeffcoat of Buford, Georgia. A graveside service will be held on June 28, 2023, in Andalusia.
