The Andalusia Police Department is investigating an accident involving a vehicle and a cyclist that occurred Thursday night.

Police Chief Paul Hudson said officers responded to the accident, which occurred near the Floor Store on the MLK Expressway, at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

The cyclist, a white male who was not carrying identification, was transported to Andalusia Health, and later transferred to a regional hospital due to the extent of his injuries. Officers have since learned his identity.

The driver of the car was not injured. The driver’s name is being withheld because the driver was a juvenile.
