The MYF youth group of First Methodist Church Andalusia will kick off the 2023-2024 school year with a “Youth Rally Day” event for all area youth and youth groups Saturday, August 19.

The event is free for students in seventh through twelfth grades and postgraduates.

“We are grateful to be able to host this kind of event because we love the idea of bringing youth throughout the area together to praise, worship, and serve in Jesus’ name. The experience we hope all our students have is realization that we are better together. No matter which church or denomination we belong to, we are one body in Christ Jesus. The event is open to individuals as well as youth groups, so there is a place at the table for everyone,” FMC Youth Leader Heather Sabey said.

Check in will be at 11 a.m. with a meal hosted and provided by First Methodist Church. Local area mission projects will follow at the Christian Service Center, Meredith’s Miracles, Blue Lake, and the Full Tummy Project of Covington County. Students will return to FMC for fellowship, games, and supper following project time. The event will end with praise, worship, and a message given by guest speaker Pastor Joe Driver of Echo Life Church in Pensacola at 5 p.m.

“Our theme verse for the day is from Micah 6:8. ‘He has shown you, O man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you? To seek justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.’ My deepest personal desire for this event, other than the youth to enjoy a fun day as a community of faith, is for each of them to bury deep in their hearts this scripture and live it out their entire lives,” she added.

Registration links may be accessed on the First Methodist Church Andalusia Facebook page. Individuals and groups who register by August 1 will receive a free event t-shirt.

The First Methodist Church of Andalusia is located at 403 East Three Notch Street. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. followed by church service at 11 a.m. and children’s church at 11:15 a.m. with youth meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday dinner is at 5:30 p.m. followed by singing at 6 p.m. A lesson and handbells for students in third grade and up will be at 6:20 p.m.
