The Alabama Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 84 in Covington County is beginning Tuesday, July 25, weather permitting.

The project will consist of resurfacing and new traffic stripe on U.S. Highway 84 from Alabama Highway 9 in Opp to the Coffee County line. Lane closures and reduced speed limits are expected throughout the project and motorists should plan accordingly and to be mindful of the people and equipment in the work zone.

The approximately $3.2 million project was awarded to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., out of Dothan, who had the lowest bid that met the project requirements. The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2023.
