Man killed in Butler County crash while fleeing police

An Evergreen man who was attempting to elude law enforcement was killed in a motorcyle crash near McKenzie Monday night.

The incident, involving a motorcycle and a parked vehicle, occurred at approximately 7:25 pm. on U.S. Hwy. 31, approximately 3 miles south of McKenzie inside Butler County.

Joseph Raphael Novelli, 35, of Evergreen was attempting to flee law enforcement when the 2007 Kawasaki motorcyle he was operating left the roadway, struck two mail boxes and then collided into a parked Conecuh County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle.

No additional information is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the incident.
