Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce board members selected Jennifer McClung as the organization’s next president in July.

McClung takes on the role of president after previously serving as the Chamber board’s vice-president. The position became vacant when Mellisa King was announced as the next executive director.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to carry on the vision the Chamber has for our community. I also am eager to give back to the community that has loved and served my family and me so well over the years,” McClung said.

Terms for Chamber presidents typically last one year. However, due to taking on the role early, McClung will actually serve for the next year and a half.

“We are so excited for Jennifer to step up and take the reins as president. She has been very involved with all things the board has done and has been an amazing vice-president,” King said.

She added that it is an honor to serve the AACC as its next president.

“From Rotary Club to the Andalusia Historical Society to volunteering at multiple events around Andalusia, I have been very active in the community over the years. Each event is an opportunity to not only promote the city but to create meaningful experiences for all of its citizens to pave the way for future growth. To be able to serve the City of Andalusia in an even greater capacity is an absolute gift.”

McClung feels Andalusia is a great place to both live and work.

“When it comes down to it, the people of this community are the heart and soul of it. I applaud all the people and organizations that come together to help support our Chamber and events. When you love the place you live, you strive to be more involved and help promote anything and everything to help the community thrive,” she said.

She named two main goals she hopes to accomplish during her tenure as president.

“I would like to find ways to promote, empower, and grow the business community as a whole. I would like to conduct and continually improve events like Candyland, July Jamz, the Chamber’s annual golf tournament, Lunch and Learns, and Business After Hours to maximize benefits for our Chamber members.”

McClung is excited to take the next step in serving her community.

“It’s critical that we provide a relationship between businesses and the community in order for the community to expand. I am excited about working closely with Mellisa and Maggie. I think they do a wonderful job representing the Chamber of Commerce. I feel with our combined community involvement, we will definitely help the Chamber grow,” she said.

McClung is employed with CDG, Inc. and has worked in the Marketing and Business Development areas for over 18 years. A 1998 Andalusia High School alumnus, she graduated from Troy University with her bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She is married to Phillip McClung, and they have one child, Cadie. They are active members of Carolina Baptist Church, where she serves on the Carolina Cemetery Committee.

Her other roles serving the community include serving as the Covington County representative for the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance (ACPA), secretary and past president for the Andalusia Rotary Club, board member for Camp ASCCA (Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults), and a member of the Andalusia Historical Society.

The Chamber board will fill the vacancy for vice-president in the near future.
