An Opp restaurant is temporarily closed after a kitchen fire ignited early Wednesday morning.

The Opp Fire Department responded to the Jack’s restaurant at 512 Florala Hwy. at approximately 5 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene firefighters observed smoke coming from the restaurant. Other units arrived and the fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was contained to a commercial frying in the kitchen area of the restaurant.

One person at the scene was treated for minor smoke inhalation and was released by Haynes Ambulance Paramedics.

The restaurant suffered minor damage and a cleanup crew began working once the fire was extinguished.

Jack’s is temporarily closed until the cleanup effort is completed.
