The Covington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent late-night trespassing incident at Straughn High School’s Tiger Stadium in the early morning hours Wednesday. School officials said the field was not damaged.

The Covington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent act of vandalism at Straughn High School’s Tiger Stadium that occurred in the early morning hours Wednesday.

According to Facebook photos released through the Straughn Football Lettermen’s Club, a vehicle made its way onto the field where it drove doughnuts, damaging the field’s playing surface. Video footage shows an unknown vehicle leaving the scene at approximately 2:42 a.m.

“I have been notified of this incident, and we are definitely going to look into this matter. However, we cannot make out what kind of vehicle it is. It was seen leaving that particular area but was not seen doing the doughnuts,” Sheriff Blake Turman said.

Turman added that school resource officer Deputy Stan Baker would likely be assigned to investigate the case.

“Each case is different, so I’m not sure how long it will take to investigate this matter. It just depends on how the evidence reveals itself,” Turman said.

Straughn is scheduled to host Clarke County in the Tigers’ first home game and senior night on Friday, Sept. 15.
