All six county football teams take the field for the final time in October as one concludes regular season play in a huge region matchup, and two others battle in a county rivalry.

Andalusia at Montgomery Catholic
Top-ranked Andalusia (9-0, 6-0 4A Region 2) will travel to the capital city for a heavyweight matchup against third-ranked Montgomery Catholic (9-0, 6-0) in a battle of two undefeated teams.

The winner will clinch the region and earn a top seed in the playoffs, while the loser will finish second. It will be the fifth time the two teams have played since the 2014 season with the Bulldogs holding a 3-1 lead over the Knights.

Andalusia hosted B.T. Washington and erased an early six-point deficit for a 27-6 win last week. Montgomery Catholic earned its sixth straight shutout and seventh of the season with a 63-0 rout against Dale County.

The two teams played twice during the 2022 season. The Knights earned a 45-23 road win in the last game of the regular season before the Bulldogs returned the favor with a 29-26 win at Cramton Bowl in the semi-finals.

Florala at Kinston
Florala (6-2, 4-2 1A Region 2) will make the trip to Kinston (2-6, 1-5) in a crucial region battle for playoff seeding.

The two teams have played every year since 1988 and square off for their 36th all-time meeting. The Wildcats have a 19-16 edge in the series against the Bulldogs.

Florala fell short in a home contest to Elba last week, 56-28. Kinston dropped a road outing to McKenzie, 45-19.

The Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs at home last year, 56-30.

Opp at Straughn
Opp (3-5, 3-3 3A Region 2) will hit the road to Straughn (7-1, 6-0) for the first time in three years when the two county rivals collide in a region battle.

This year’s game will be the 20th time the two teams square off in the modern era. The Tigers lead the series 11-8 over the Bobcats in previous matchups dating back to the 2002 season.

Opp, which is fighting for a playoff spot, came up short to Houston Academy, 49-20, last time out. Straughn, which is seeking a first-round home playoff game, enters the contest winners of three straight including a 56-21 homecoming win over Northside Methodist last week.

The Bobcats hosted the Tigers for the second straight year in 2022 and picked up a 38-14 win.

Pleasant Home at Elba
Pleasant Home (1-7, 0-6 1A Region 2) will face a tough test with a road game at undefeated Elba (8-0, 6-0) this week.

The two teams compete against each other on the gridiron for the fourth time since 2018. The Tigers hold a 3-0 lead against the Eagles.

Pleasant Home enters the region tilt after falling short to Brantley last week at home, 37-7. Elba played its final road game of the regular season and doubled up Florala, 56-28.

The Eagles fell to the Tigers in a home contest last year, 48-6.

Red Level at Brantley
Red Level (2-6, 2-5 1A Region 2) will look to break through in the win column for the third time on the season with a short trip to Brantley (4-4, 4-2).

This year’s game will be the 59th meeting between the two teams since they first played in 1950. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 44-14 and have claimed 19 straight matchups against the Tigers since the 1991 season.

Red Level took on Georgiana and fell 37-7 in its final home game last week. Brantley faced Pleasant Home on the road and collected a 37-7 win.

The Bulldogs posted a 34-6 road win against the Tigers in 2022.
