Joan Taylor Harrelson Ballard, 88, of Andalusia passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023 at her home with her loving daughter Carol by her side.

A memorial service remembering her life and the life of her daughter, Sandy Harrelson Norris, will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m., at Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor John Hunt officiating. The family will visit with friends before and after the service at the church.

Joan, affectionately known as “Ganmama,” loved her family beyond measure and had a special gift for making each one of them feel special. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, gardening, watching her westerns, and listening to gospel and country music (and anything by Elvis). She was loved by many and everyone will greatly miss her, her stories and her laughter.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and father of her children, Joseph Clark Harrelson; husband, Doc Ballard; daughter, Sandy Norris; sisters, Dorothy Bradley, Marie Fuqua, and Betty Wambles; brothers, Jimmy C. Taylor and Billy Taylor.

Joan leaves behind a large family who will always cherish their memories of her. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Kerrigan; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Denise Harrelson and David and Mary Nell Harrelson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
