The Covington County Probate Office has announced qualifying candidates seeking office in next year’s primary elections.

No Democrats qualified for seats. Below are those who qualified as Republicans.

Probate Judge: Stacy Brooks

County Commission Chairman: Greg White, incumbent, and Michael Smith who previously held the Dist. 2 seat on the commission.

County Commission Dist. 1: Ben Cooper and Ben Courson

County Commission Dist. 2: Matthew McClellan, Robbie Weaver, Steven King, and Terry Stephens

County Commission Dist. 3: Jimmy Grissett, Larry Stallings, and incumbent Lynne Holmes

County Commission Dist. 4: incumbent Tommy McGaha was the only qualifier.

Covington County Board of Education, Place 1: incumbent Sonny Thomasson was the only qualifier.

Covington County Board of Education, Place 2: Jed Blackwell, incumbent Jimmy Rodgers, and Ron Yates.

Qualifying ended on Friday, Nov. 10.

The Republican Primary will be held March 5, 2024. The General Election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
