Andalusia Isshinryu Karate students competed in the Tennessee Youth Karate Games in Crossville, Tennessee, on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Mark Rudd of the AIK said it was a great turnout.

“Our youth students had the opportunity to attend four seminars by various master level instructors. They then competed in a tournament that was open to all youth of any style of martial arts,” Rudd said.

Serving as tournament directors were Sensei Tony Williams and Sandra Strong of the Lebanon, Tennessee Dojo and Sensei David Gabbard and the Jeremiah Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

AIK’s Johnathan Rudd was named the grand champion of the event in 12 and under. He finished in first place in kata brown belt, second in weapons, first in kumite (fighting), and was just under kyu (below black belt).

Lacey Rudd received first place in yellow belt kata in the 7 and 8-year-old category.

Stetson Cook was second in yellow belt kata in the 9 and 10-year-old category.

Lawrence Sargent was second in kata in the 6 and under category and second in kumite in the 6-year-old beginner category.

Eli Rudd finished in third place in yellow belt kata in the 7 and 8-year-old category.

Cord Cook was fourth in kata and third in kumite in the 4 and 5-year-old category.

Henley Sargent was fourth in kumite in the 4 and 5-year-old category.

Dhilan Patel also competed at the event but did not place.
