Tommy McGaha recently announced that he is seeking re-election to the Dist. 4 seat of the Covington County Commission.

He is a resident of the Buck Creek community and a 1982 graduate of Straughn High School.

“I consider it a great honor to have been elected by and serve the citizens of Covington County as your District 4 county commissioner and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have had an open-door policy for the citizens of District 4 and of Covington County who want their voices heard in local matters, personal concerns, or other issues by returning phone calls and replying to text messages or emails and making in person visits when requested,” McGaha said.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran from 1984 to 1988, McGaha has been employed with Triple H Specialty of Alabama since 2009. He is married to Vicki Taylor McGaha of Red Level. They have five children and three grandchildren and are members of Buck Creek Baptist Church.

McGaha is a life member of the NRA and is currently the treasurer for the Covington County Republican Party.

“As a commission, we have maintained a balanced budget, reduced our long-term debt and have been able to give our county employees much-needed cost of living raises each year. We have worked well with the cities, towns, and local communities because we owe it to ourselves, the people of Covington County, to work together on issues that affect every one of us. We have welcomed the opportunities to find common ground on which to grow our relationships with them, build on the amenities of our county and continue to enhance our quality of life for all of Covington County,” he said.

McGaha is a dual-board member of the Rural Workforce Council (RWC) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) through Southeast Alabama Works. He is an Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) Legislative Committee member and a member of the Wiregrass Resource Conservation and Development (WRC&D) Council.

He will be unopposed in the March 5, 2024 primary election.

“I love this country; I love this state and I love this county. Thank you for allowing me to serve you. I’m looking forward to the next four years,” McGaha said.
