Christmastime is here, especially for those in the City of Andalusia where holiday events marked the opening of the season as well as the 10th anniversary of Christmas in Candyland.

On Thursday night, the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Christmas parade, which was the largest ever with 125 entries.

“It’s wonderful to live in a place where the community is always so supportive. We had the most spectators and best floats at this year’s Christmas parade I’ve ever seen. The floats this year fit our theme perfectly and brought the Christmas magic to life. We are so grateful for everyone who helped make our annual parade possible. Love where you live,” said AACC Executive Director Mellisa King.

On Friday morning, city officials gathered for a ribbon cutting event officially opening this year’s Candyland. An assortment of Candyland activities will be taking place over the coming weeks. Candyland cottages will be open weekends between Dec. 1-22. The cottages will be open on Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., on Saturdays from 1 to 9 p.m., and on Sundsays from 1 to 5 p.m. They will also be open on Friday, Dec. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. and the final day will be Saturday, Dec. 30 from 1 to 9 p.m.
