For most people, the holidays are a time of celebration. Unfortunately for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities, the holidays bring no reprieve from the high cost of everyday living expenses.

For many individuals, the holidays can be the loneliest time of the year. The Santa for Seniors community project helps to bring holiday joy and Christmas gifts to those Wiregrass seniors and those with disabilities who need basic items for everyday living.

Santa for Seniors sponsorship requests are live now on the SARCOA website. This is an opportunity for the Wiregrass community to take part in supporting those less fortunate for the holidays. Sponsorship requests will be listed by county along with a description of the individual and the items on their wish list. Good tidings can be shared in other ways, too. A link to SARCOA’s Amazon wish list can be accessed on the website. The list includes frequently requested items during Christmas and throughout the year. Monetary donations can be made online, mailed, or dropped off in person at SARCOA.

SARCOA is also seeking Santa helpers who would like to volunteer. In 2022, SARCOA staff and volunteers served over 500 individuals for the holidays.

Volunteers can lend a helping hand as a group or as an individual. For more information about volunteering visit the SARCOA website or call 334-793- 6843 to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

Santa for Seniors updates and other information is available and ongoing on SARCOA’s Facebook page, Instagram, and website found at www.sarcoa.org.
