CCS receives higher grades on state report card

The Alabama State Department of Education released its report card grades for the 2022-2023 school year in public schools throughout the state on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Covington County Schools received a 90, which is an A, and is an increase over the previous year’s score of 88. Additionally, six of the system’s eight schools saw increases in their scores.

Individual scores for the system are as follows:

  • Covington County Schools – 90
  • Fleeta Junior High School – 83
  • Florala High School – 87
  • Pleasant Home School – 87
  • Red Level School – 86
  • Straughn Elementary School – 88
  • Straughn High School – 85
  • Straughn Middle School – 93
  • W.S. Harlan Elementary School – 82

“We congratulate our schools on this accomplishment,” Superintendent Shannon Driver said.
