The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its annual “Business of the Year” award with the deadline set for Jan. 13, 2024.

The purpose of this award is to recognize those businesses that have demonstrated the principles of community service, volunteerism, and the best traditions of good corporate leadership. Qualifying businesses must be a current Andalusia Chamber member and have been in business for at least three years. Businesses may nominate themselves.

Awards will be presented in four categories at the Chamber’s annual banquet in February. Small Business of the Year is awarded to those with nine or fewer employees. Mid-Sized Business of the Year is awarded to those with 10 to 74 employees. Large Business of the Year is awarded to those with 75 or more employees. In addition, a Business of the Year Community Service Award will be presented.

Businesses will be recognized for their significant achievements in any of the following areas:

• Industry award/leadership recognition
• Building or product expansion that creates a positive impact on the local business community by generating new jobs, increasing sales, or enhancing the aesthetic value of the property
• Innovation of leading-edge technology/services/products that enhance and advance business opportunities
• Dedicated service to the Chamber of Commerce through consistent support of Chamber events and activities
• Dedicated service to the general community through consistent support of specific or diversified community endeavors that enhance the quality of life in the Covington County area

Award recipients from 2023 are as follows:

• Small Business of the Year: Draftstone Properties
• Mid-Sized Business of the Year: Harper Electric Construction Company
• Large Business of the Year: CCB Community Bank
• Community Service Award: Andalusia Health
