An Opp man was arrested Dec. 17 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Kory Morrill

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kory Morrill, 25, of Opp, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to the area of the Atmore Christian School on Tenant Drive in reference to a suspicious person.

McMann said responding officers contacted Morrill near the playground.

“Morrill was speaking incoherently and acting strangely leading the officers to believe he was under the influence of narcotics,” McMann said. “The officers discovered a glass pipe in Morrill’s pocket with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Morrill was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
