Voncile Ivey Newman, age 96, passed on from this life to an eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023.

Daughter of Hugh and Sarah Ivey, Voncile was born on June 24, 1927, and raised in Repton, Alabama. She married Charles S. Newman of Andalusia, and they became active members of the First Baptist Church. Assisting the librarian was a part of her service while a member, as well as preparing meals for those in need. She was known for cream cheese pound cake and chicken pot pie! Membership in the Garden Club, writing poetry, and journaling her life story were among her interests, but her love for the Lord Jesus and the love for her family were her purpose for living.

Voncile was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her son, Mike. She is survived by her three daughters, Lucy Thompson (Charles), Patsy Faull (John), and Janet Duckett (Rob); daughter-in-law, Joan Newman; grandchildren Holly Thompson Jones (Jonathan), Wes and Justen Faull; and great-grandchildren Evan, Andrew, and Anna Jones.

Funeral services will be held at the Foreman Brown Funeral Home in Andalusia on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. Eric Searcy and William Worley will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
