Mrs. Eva Rae Norris, age 103, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at 1:30 a.m.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1920, to parents Willie and Lillie Johnson. She married Obie Norris in March of 1937, and they shared 51 years together. They built a life and family consisting of four sons, Jerald, Chester Ray, John, and Vernon, and two daughters Betty Jean and Eva Nell. She was a lifelong member of the Enon community and a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church. She loved flowers and spending time planting and tending to her flower garden, and she enjoyed quilting and thoughtfully stitching together quilts for her loved ones. Mrs. Eva Rae was a hard worker who took pride in caring and providing for her family, loved her church, and loved the Lord. In 103 years of life, she has been a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, an amazing granny, a great friend, and a devout Christian who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norris will be on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2 p.m., at Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Leonard and Donnie Powell officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie L. and Lillie Johnson, her husband, Obie Norris, her daughter, Eva Nell Powell, her grandson, Johnny Powell, her sons-in-law, Harold Powell and Johnny Harrelson, five brothers: Benson Johnson, Julian Johnson, Buddy Johnson, William Johnson and Little Buddy Johnson, and five sisters: Vera Rachel, Catherine Stanley, Nona Roberts, Velma Atkins, and Elizabeth Simmons.

She is survived by her children, Betty Harrelson, Jerald (Shirley) Norris, Chester Ray (Ellen) Norris, John Norris, Vernon Norris; a sister, Louise Harrell; her grandchildren, Keith (Jane) Norris, Flint (Christine) Harrelson, Jennifer Pope, Sherry Buck, Eugene (Leigh) Powell, Tammy (Terry) Weeks, Teresa (David) Morris, Kathy (Kenny) Teel, Cal (Lisa) Norris, Donny Powell, Greg (Melanie) Norris and Chris Norris; 27 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Flint and Christine Harrelson will provide music. Pallbearers are Keith Norris, Cal Norris, Eugene Powell, Donny Powell, Greg Norris, and Chris Norris.

The family will accept flowers.
