The Wing and Carolina volunteer fire departments responded to the scene of a vehicle accident involving entrapment and downed power lines Monday night.

According to officials with the Carolina Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters responded to Barton Road in Wing at approximately 6:43 p.m. as mutual aid to the Wing department.

The scene of the accident involved a vehicle that had hit a power pole, resulting in downed power lines and entrapment of the vehicle’s occupant. Carolina Engine 1 responded to the scene and worked on extracting the victim from the vehicle.

Carolina’s brush truck also responded to Beta Church, just across from Barton Road, to set up a landing zone for Life Flight. Once the victim was extracted, Advanced EMS transported the patient to the Beta Church landing zone where Life Flight began its care of the victim. Once Life Flight was off the ground, the brush truck responded to the incident scene. Units stayed at the scene while Covington Electric set a new pole and restored power. All Carolina and Wing units were back in service at approximately 10:37 p.m.
