On Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, Earl Grey Beck, USAF, Ret., devoted husband and father, died at the age of 91 surrounded by the love of his family in Andalusia, Alabama.

Earl was born on August 31, 1932 to Clifton and Ballona Beck. He proudly served in the Air Force as a captain from 1951 to 1971. He continued his studies in nursing at Gulf Coast Community College until 1972.

Earl began his career as an RN at Lisenby Hospital in Panama City. He met his wife of nearly 46 years at the hospital where they both worked. Earl and Nell were married on Sept. 20, 1974. Their blended families consisted of eight children, Nancy, David, Kim, Janice, Rusty, Huey Dewayne, Phil, and Randy. Earl had a long, successful career spanning over 25 years at Andalusia Hospital.

Above all else, Earl was devoted to his family and dedicated his life to making sure they were taken care of and provided for in many ways. He had a passion for traveling, family, helping others, and church. He was also a steadfast man of faith in The First Congregational Church.

Earl was a generous man of service in his life and known for his work with the Rescue Squad, where he was a founding member.

Earl was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clifton and Ballona Beck; his loving wife, Ruby Nell Beck; his brother and sister, Ed Beck and Lynda Faye Lane; his children, Rusty Beck and
Janice Weatherbee; and grandchildren, Steve Richie and Christian Beck.

He is survived by his children: Nancy (Lester) Bullock, David (Patricia) Beck, Kim (Dave) Cruikshank, Huey Dewayne (Rena) Meeks, Phil (Donna) Meeks, Randy (Lora) Meeks, and Gracyn Bennett Manning Beck, who was lovingly reared as a son. He is also survived by his niece, Karen Beck.

Left to cherish Earl’s memory and his heritage of love are his numerous grandchildren and their spouses: Ashley Jackson, Christopher Earl Beck (Emily), David Matthew Beck (Judy), Terri Lynn Boone (Jamie), James “Levi” Wales (Sabrina), Zowie Miranda Cole (Alton), Cheryl Retherford (Charles), Tyler Woodham, Moriya Beck, Whitney Lynn Manning, Taylor-Grey Mallette, Anna Bush (Ethan), Zack Meeks (Brittany), Curt Chesser (Emily), Jacob Chesser (Courtney), Peyton Meeks, Phil III (Candace) Meeks, Danny (Destiny) Meeks, Deanna Meeks, Evan Meeks, and Mallory Meeks.
Also cherishing his memory and legacy of love are his great-grandchildren: Trindon Marshall, Aviaun and Khaleah Jackson, and Amari; Cameron Burkett and Terista Beck; Haylee Ward and Greyson Boone; Rilee, Noah, Aidan and Elena Wales; Shelby Williams and Skylar Cole; Chase and Colby Retherford; Alice Woodham, Michael Mallette; Chloe, Emma, Kayden, and Meagan Bush; Jayden and Cade Gilbert, Tobias Allen, Gunner and Raeleigh Meeks; Henry Chesser; Kaitlin, Kolton and Mae Meeks; Camreigh and Ryder Meeks; Karlynn and Brice Smith, and Lynee
Kate Meeks.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 11 a.m., at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at 5 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 5 at Keahey Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Whitaker will officiate and provide special music. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Chris Beck, Matthew Beck, Tyler Woodham, Levi Wales, Zack Meeks, Phil Meeks III, Danny Meeks, Peyton Meeks and Evan Meeks. Interment will follow at Stone Lake Gardens with Keahey Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force honor team.
