The Opp Fire Department was called to a structure fire at Crossover Ministries on Alabama Highway 52 in Opp on Sunday, Feb. 4, at approximately 2:45 a.m.

The Andalusia Fire Department and Elba Fire Department also responded to the scene along with Onycha and Babbie Volunteer Fire Departments. The Enterprise Fire Department was requested to assist with an aerial ladder truck.

Officials on the scene reported all occupants of the building were out of the structure. Opp Fire Command reports they have established a supply line (constant water source) to the Opp Fire Department pumper truck. Firefighters are attacking the fire that is affecting the backside of the building from the interior at this time.

“The fire has been extinguished and they are ventilating the smoke from the building. A sweep of the building in the lower and upper floors has been conducted for a second time and no victims have been located. The Alabama State Fire Marshal has been requested and will be handling the investigation as to the cause of the fire,” Opp Fire Chief Cory Spurlin said.

Crossover Ministries released a statement regarding the fire and confirmed there were no injuries.

“Early this morning, Crossover had a fire inside the garage area of the building. There were no injuries and everyone was safe. There is some damage and we are awaiting news from officials on that, but no one was hurt. Please be in prayer as we navigate the next few days. Many have called asking what they could do to help and we are grateful. As of now, we aren’t aware of needs other than your prayers. Please just lift your hands and hearts in prayer and adoration with us for our good and merciful God,” the statement said.
