Lula Belle Kervin, age 89, a lifelong resident of Red Level passed away on Feb. 23, 2024, in the Okaloosa Medical Center.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1 p.m., at Pigeon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tyree Bowen officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Ben Kervin Jr., Houston Kervin Sr., Ken Floyd, David Floyd, Richard Cobb, and Wayne Kervin. The honorary pallbearer was Matt King. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund in memory of Lula B. Kervin.

Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the services.

Left to cherish her memory include her children, John Kervin of Red Level, Ben (Robin) Kervin of Red Level, Cecilia Meeks of Troy; brother, Dale (Agnes) Faust of McKenzie; niece, MaryAllyn Syler of Andalusia; grandsons, Matt King, Ben Kervin Jr. of Red Level; Houston Kervin Sr., of Red Level; granddaughter, Sara King; great-grandson, Houston Kervin Jr., and great-granddaughter, Harper King.

Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Leotis and Vera Faust; her loving husband, Lee Dean Kervin Sr.; children, Joseph F. Kervin, Lee Dean Kervin, Amelia Kervin; a nephew, Leotis Layfayette Faust; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrtle Kervin and Mary Lois Beesley (Perry).

Lula was born to Leotis and Vera Faust from McKenzie. Lula was born on Oct. 18, 1934, about a mile south of McKenzie on a rural road in Conecuh County which is now County Road 51. Lula was their only child for 11 years until her brother Dale was born. The two were very close. Lula graduated from McKenzie High School in 1952. Shortly after graduating, she went on to nursing school. She stayed in nursing school until she married L.D. Kervin and the newlyweds moved to the Midway School community which is now Pigeon Creek community. L.D. Kervin passed away in 1993 and Lula never remarried. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word searches and reading about history. She loved the song, “Never Grow Old.” She will be greatly missed.
