Career coaches across Region 6 collaborated on a joint resume contest and partnered with Southeast Alabama Works to award several scholarship winners to students at local schools.

A panel of judges selected one academic-based resume winner and one work-based resume winner from each school.

Across Covington County, each school’s academic-based scholarship winner received a $100 scholarship from CCB Community Bank. Winners were Alyssa Anderson, Florala High School; Briley Douglas, Pleasant Home School; Mariah Crowell, Red Level High School; Ryan Cobb, Straughn High School; Emmy Mixson, Andalusia High School; and Rylee Reynolds, Opp High School.

The work-based winner from each school across the county received a $100 scholarship from Wyatt Sasser Construction. Winners were Jordan Jones, Andalusia High School; Liz Ann Jackson, Opp High School; Dawson Cox, Florala High School; Meredith Wilson, Pleasant Home School; Annabelle Ausbrooks, Red Level High School; and Sylvia Worley, Straughn High School.

One overall winner was chosen and received a scholarship of $250 from Southeast Alabama Works. Jordan Jones from Andalusia High School was the overall winner and represented Covington County at the regional competition in Dothan for a chance to earn a $1,000 scholarship, sponsored by PowerSouth.

“Because of our wonderful local community partners, Wyatt Sasser Construction and CCB Community Bank, we can provide this opportunity for our students. We are grateful for their investment in education and further developing our students,” Andalusia High School Career Coach Lauren Maynor said.

A certificate luncheon was held for all winners and sponsored by Mizell Memorial Hospital.
