AHS Scholarship Foundation names Crittenden, Long as 2024 recipients

The Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation recently presented academic scholarships to 2024 seniors Nyla Crittenden and John Logan Long.

The Class of 1948 Tuition Scholarship is awarded to academically motivated and financially needful graduating seniors of AHS. Each scholarship is for $10,000, and is renewable for three additional years if a student maintains a 2.75 grade point average and progresses toward graduation on schedule.

“We are so appreciative of the AHSSF and its continued support of our students,” AHS Principal Ray Wilson said.

Crittenden, who is ranked third in the 115-member AHS Class of 2024, plans to study pre-veterinary medicine at Auburn University. She is the daughter of Tiffany Stallworth.

She serves as president of Usher Club; secretary of the Student Government Association; secretary of the National Honor Society; is vice president of her class; vice president of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); and clarinet section leader of the AHS Marching and Symphonic Band. Stallworth was named her school’s DAR Good Citizen and is a City of Andalusia Youth Ambassador. She also has amassed more than 257 hours of community service.

Long, who is ranked 14th in the Class of 2024, plans to study law and justice at Auburn University with a long-term goal of practicing law. He is the son of Rik and Kristin Long.

He is president of the Key Club, captain of the AHS Marching Band; treasurer of the Student Government Association; serves as class treasurer; is treasurer of Usher Club; sales manager of Memolusia; is saxophone section leader; and social media director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He is a City of Andalusia Youth Ambassador, and has amassed 162 hours of community service.

The Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation was founded by the Class of 1948. The foundation awards tuition scholarships and international study fellowships each year.
