A lemonade stand opened by a youngster in Red Level on Saturday, May 11, led to a sweet donation for Meredith’s Miracles.

Lorayle Carter asked and received permission to open the lemonade stand from her grandmother, Belle. Once Lorayle received the go-ahead from her grandmother she began making the lemonade and even made a pound cake to serve at the stand. It was the first pound cake she made on her own.

“Seriously, it was the best pound cake I have ever had,” said Lorayle’s aunt (and customer) Kiley Spears, who is also the director at Meredith’s Miracles.

When Lorayle told her aunt Kiley that she was going to donate the money to Meredith’s Miracles, Kiley explained what the money she raised would do to help a family with a sick child.

“Loralye’s little sister, Letty, was in the NICU unit in Montgomery when she was born. I told her Meredith’s Miracles was going to be able to help a family travel to see their baby or take a child to a doctor appointment,” Kiley said.

At the end of the work day, Lorayle had earned over $400 for Meredith’s Miracles.

“You are never too young to learn to help others. Loralye has such a kind heart,” Kiley said.
