Braves, Rockies pick up wins

The Braves scored 12 runs in the second inning and went on to beat the Pirates 12-4 in 11-to-12-year-old Cal Ripken baseball action at Legends Field on Friday night.

Will Clark scored two runs to lead the Pirates.

A. Smith went 3-for-4 to lead the Braves; T. Barber, A. Nichols and M. Scholts went 2-for-3 each; and C. Ramer went 2-for-4.

Rockies 8, D’Backs 6

The Rockies scored two runs in the third inning, five runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning in the win over the D’Backs.

The D’Backs scored two runs each in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

In other action, the Twins beat the A’s 16-5.

11 to 12 year old girls

The Straughn Black beat the Bulldogs 7-4; Red Level beat the Titans in a close one 19-18; and the Eagles beat Straughn White 8-4.

In 9 to 10 girls action, the Sassy Slammers beat the Eagles Red 5-1.

In boys, the Phillies beat the Rockies 30-16; the Cardinals beat the Padres 13-1; the A’s beat the Blue Jays 11-1; and the Cubs beat the Dodgers 16-1.
