The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs finished in third place at their annual volleyball tournament Saturday, falling to Kinston in the semi-finals 2-1.

Andalusia defeated Opp, Zion Chapel and Kinston’s junior varsity squad before reaching the semis.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Opp 2-0; Zion Chapel 2-1; and Kinston’s junior varsity team 2-0.

AHS coach Angie Grimes said her team’s transition looked good Saturday.

“I thougt they were picking up coverage on that better today,” she said. “We continue to improve on that. We had way too many serving errors. For some reason we’ve never had that many serving errors all year.”

The Lady Bulldogs will continue their regular season this week on the road at Kinston today, and in Dothan for a match against Providence Christian on Thursday.

In other local action at the tournament, and after falling to Andalusia, Opp beat the Kinston JV team 2-0 (25-14, 25-11); and Zion Chapel 2-1 (25-23, 10-25, 15-11) before falling 2-0 (15-25, 17-25) to Enterprise in the semi-finals.

“We did well,” OHS coach Christie Spurlin said. “The girls played good all day long. Our serving was one of our stronger points. We got a lot of good serves in. The girls really hustled and play hard the whole day.”

In Pool B, Pleasant Home had a good run against Highland Home, winning 25-10, 25-11; but then lost to Enterprise 6-25, 11-25; and Kinston 19-25, 21-25.
