A Red Level man has confessed to purchasing pills to assist in the meth making process.

Daniel Miller, 27, turned himself in at the Covington County Jail Friday on a second-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance charge after Drug Task Force agents questioned him about recent pseudo-ephedrine buys.

Miller was a passenger in the vehicle used during a high-speed pursuit last week where a convicted drug manufacturer from River Falls fled from law enforcement.

“Mr. Miller’s arrest stemmed from making pseudo purchases for a meth manufacturer, but it was not the one that he was riding with that night,” said DTF Agent Chris Byrd. “Miller was a passenger in the vehicle, and while (Sheriff’s Office) deputies were pursuing the driver, Mr. Miller was questioned and later confessed to buying the pills.”

Byrd said Miller was released, and a warrant was later issued for his arrest.

Since then, Miller has also been charged with violation of probation. Byrd said it was unknown at the time if Miller’s previous charges were drug related. He is currently being held in the county jail under a $250,000 bond for the manufacturing charge and without bond on the violation of probation charge.

As for the driver of the vehicle used in last week’s high-speed pursuit – 25-year-old John Caton Lee – he was found four days later inside a motel room.
