MCHS tops Andalusia 3-1 in VB action

Monroe County’s shots fell at the right time as the Lady Tigers went on to beat Andalusia 3-1 (9-25, 25-27, 25-22, 13-25) in area action last night at the Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball gym.

The Lady Bulldogs’ second and third games were equally impressive, where they trailed in both, but made late surges.

AHS led as much as 17-12 at one point of the match-extender. Varsity volleyball matches are played best three-out-of-five games.

MCHS made it interesting at the tail end of the third game, but AHS held its ground and got the last two shots to go into the fourth game.

The Lady Bulldogs led early in game four at 4-2, but faltered as the Lady Tigers gained momentum to carry out the win.

Jennifer Botta had four assists; Shambrieka Burnett had three kills; Shelby Meeks had two blocks; and Alexis Lawrence had seven service points.

Andalusia will be back in action on Tuesday as the Lady Bulldogs host Providence Christian in regular season action. Action starts at 3:30 with the junior high squad.
