MAMIE RAWLS MITCHELL

Mamie Rawls Mitchell, 95, of Red Level, died on Sat., Jan. 15, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services were held today, Tues., Jan. 18, at Foreman Funeral Home chapel with interment in the Long Branch Cemetery and the Rev. Billy Smithart and the Rev. Dean Matthews officiating. Special music was provided by Michael Smithart and Debbi Butts.

She is survived by five daughters, Lee (Bill Henson) Johnson of Red Level, Faye (Julius) Bass of the Carolina community, Jean (Robert) Smithart of Andalusia, June (Ricky) Harper of McKenzie and Jane (Floyd) Cartwright of McKenzie; two sons, Wilbur (Barbara) Mitchell and Dean Mitchell, both of Red Level; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Mitchell, and two grandchildren, David Michael Smithart and Mack Byrd.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, John Butts Jr., Steve Mitchell, Heath Harper, Bobby Gene Godwin, Sam McNeil, Michael Smithart, Rickey Terry and Frank Butts.

DAVID DEWAYNE MCCLAIN

David DeWayne McClain was born to Gloria L. E. Perry and David E. McClain on April 13, 1975, at the Andalusia Regional Hospital. He continued to live in Andalusia and call it home until the Lord called him to be with Him on Jan. 12, 2011.

He was baptized at St. Peter Baptist Church at an early age and greatly known as “Teddy Bear” to most people. He was never a stranger to anyone. He loved to work on vehicles and electronics and to read and work puzzle books in his spare time.

He was the first-born grandchild of the late Bertha Mae Perry and Willie Jackson. Also, he was the grandson of David McClain. His great-grandmother was Mrs. Louella Mae Jordan Jenkins and his great-grandfather was Henry E. Perry.

He leaves to cherish his memories a lovely mother, Gloria Perry of Andalusia; father, David Earl McClain of Geneva; sister, Temika Perry of Andalusia; three half-sisters, Sania Warren, Latoya McClain and Teaka McClain; brother, David “Man Tan” (Ashley) McClain Jr., and a son that was very, very dear to him, DeWayne Devonte McClain of Enterprise. He leaves behind his great-uncle and aunt, Willie (Henry) and Ruby Perry of Andalusia, Uncle Walter and Aunt Jackie Perry of Montgomery, Uncle Richard Fort of Thomasville, Uncle Stephon Thomas, Uncle Derrick Thomas and Aunt Lydia Thomas, all of Lorain, Ohio, Aunt Barbara Ann Curry, Aunt Willie Ball of Andalusia and Mrs. Amelia Pitts of Andalusia. And he also leaves two special friends, Janice Gray-Flemings of Enterprise and Debra Ward of Andalusia, as well as a host of cousins and great friends that loved him very much, including Victor Benson and Derek Gantt who were like brothers to him.

Funeral services will be held today, Wed., Jan. 19, at St. Peter Baptist Church in Andalusia with the Bobby C. Rhodes officiating. Kirks Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

MARGARET CHRISTENE (NELSON) NALL

Margaret Christene (Nelson) Nall, 76, of Elba, departed this life Mon., Jan. 17, 2011, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Thurs., Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Newell officiating and burial following in the Evergreen Cemetery Elba. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Survivors include husband, Claude Nathan Nall of Elba; sons, Dale (Faye) Kelley of Enterprise and Mickey (Renee) Kelley of Elba; daughters, Gale (Ray) Jackson of Enterprise and Glenda Adkinson of Elba; stepson, Tucker (Donna) Nall of Alexander City; sister, Myrtlene Jeter of Phenix City; brother, Jeter Nelson and James Nelson, both of Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hayes Funeral Home of Elba is in charge of arrangements.

PATRICIA ANN MCDUFFIE

Patricia Ann McDuffie, 64, of Andalusia, died on Mon., Jan. 17, 2011, in a Dothan hospital.

Memorial services will be held Fri., Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. from Foreman Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Matt Brady officiating. Visitation will be on Thurs. Jan. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  to the services at the funeral home.

She was a loving, caring, giving, kind person, wife, mother and “Nana.” She had a dedication to her family, a strong will and a love for her flower garden. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles W. McDuffie of Andalusia; four children, Debbie (Chuck) Nelson of Enterprise, Valerie (Darryl) Taylor of Birmingham, David (Tammy) McDuffie of Andalusia and Bobby (Tami) McDuffie of the Carolina community; eight grandchildren, Taylor and Abby McDuffie, Megan and Anna Nelson, Devan McDuffie, Nick Lawson and Emma and Bethany Taylor; two brothers, Jerry (Mary) Chapel of Ozello, Fla., and Toby (Bette) Chapel of Sebring, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Tobias Chapel; her brothers, Robert and Terry Chapel, and her first grandchild, Cody McDuffie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be made to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham or to the March of Dimes, two organizations that Mrs. McDuffie supported.

Mary Foye Floyd, 79, of Andalusia, died Mon., Jan. 17, 2011 in a Montgomery Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Fri., Jan. 21, 2011 from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Hall and Rev. Larry Stewart officiating, burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 20 at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Ronzana and Dennis Eiland, Patricia Thompson and Donnie Mooney, of Opp, and Frances and Andy Alexander of Andalusia; her grandsons, Keith Thompson and his wife Wendy, Chad Alexander and his wife, Kerry; her granddaughters, Kerri Mathis and her husband, Jim, Lourie Eiland, and Mandy Alexander; great grandchildren, Peyton Thompson, Mary Beth Alexander, Austin Alexander, and Jack Mathis; a brother, Donald Ray McVay of Pensacola, Fla.; her sisters, Maxine Mooney and Charlotte Hall, both of Oppand a good friend, Doug Sims
