BILLY GENE WILLIAMS

Mr. Billy Gene Williams, 70, of Andalusia, died Mon., Jan. 24, 2011 in the Opp Nursing Home.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. today, Thurs., Jan. 27, at the Buck Creek Cemetery. Visitation was 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Turman will officiate the service.

Survivors include his wife, May Belle Williams of Andalusia; his sons and daughter-in-law, Donald Gene Williams and John Paul Williams, both of Andalusia, Anthony Ray (Diane) Williams of Red Level, and Arthur Kendall Williams of Andalusia; stepchildren, Gerald D. (Melba) Robinson of Loango, Johnny Ray Robinson of Foley, and Melina Diane (John) Hathaway of South Carolina; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a brother, Junior (Jolene) Williams of Red Level.

Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Annie Bell Williams and sister, Dorothy Jean Faust Comer.

Pallbearers will be Cory Carter, Donald Maddox, Vernell Berry, Jonathan Neal, Robbie Williams, Josh Johns and Ty Williams

RUSSELL DAVIS

Mrs. Marion Tommie Russell Davis, age 76, of Andalusia died Mon., Jan. 24, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. today, Thurs., Jan. 27, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating.

Interment will follow services.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, George Olan Davis; parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. (Mamie) Russell; and a sister, Frankie Coker.

Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Reed (Twyla) Davis of Andalusia, Jeff (Bobbie) Davis of the Rawls community; two grandchildren, Brad (Rachael) Davis of Andalusia, Candace Davis of the Rawls community; one step-grandchild, Michael Chad Petty of Andalusia; and a sister, Jimmie (Paul) Floyd of Red Level.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Foreman’s.

MARTIN VANBUREN “JR.” HUCKABAA

Mr. Martin VanBuren “Jr.” Huckabaa, age 59, of the Carolina Community passed away Wed., Jan. 26, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Fri., Jan. 28, at Shady Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include sons, William (Rosa) Huckabaa of Opp, Dennis Huckabaa of Carolina Community, Derek Huckabaa of Andalusia; daughters, Marsha (Robert) Douglas of Carolina Community, Brenda Tolbert of Opp; brothers, Jerry (Betty) Huckabaa of Greenville; Jackie (Mary) Huckabaa of Carolina Community, Curtis Huckabaa of Carolina Community, J. L. Huckabaa of Carolina Community; sisters, Evelyn (Edward) Davidson of Andalusia, Charlene (Wayne) Brandley of Wing and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Huckabaa was a Vietnam War veteran and served in the United States Army.

VIDA IRENE SCRUGGS COOPER

Mrs. Vida Irene Scruggs Cooper, age 74 of Red Level, passed away Mon., Jan. 24, 2011, in a Prattville hospital.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m., today, Thurs., Jan. 27, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Tony Glass will officiate.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Keahey Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Cooper of Prattville, Scott (Angie) Cooper of Red Level and Mark Cooper of Red Level; two daughters, Judy (Tom) Klipp of St. Louis, Patricia (Allen) Harbuck of Pickerington, Ohio; brothers and sisters, Juanita Atkison, Bobbie Jean Higdon, Buddy Scruggs, Jimmy Scruggs, Shirley Whittington, Diane Cartwright, Robert Scruggs, Ronald Scruggs, Brenda Scruggs, Larry Scruggs and Sue Bush; grandchildren, Jeff Klipp, Sarah Klipp, Adam Klipp, Todd Harbuck, Matthew Harbuck, Brandon Cooper, Michelle Aplin, Josh Cooper, Amanda Jackson and Cody Cooper; and 11 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vaughn Cooper; two grandsons, Russell Harbuck and Nathaniel Cooper; and a sister, Pamela Scruggs.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

MRS. FREDDIE L. (EVON LANE) WILLIAMS

Mrs. Freddie L. (Evon Lane) Williams, age 83, of Huntsville, passed away Thurs., Jan. 20, 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Freddie, of 57 years; a son, Michael and wife, Debbie, of Longwood, Fla.; grandchildren, Joseph Harmon, Nicole Williams and Noah Williams; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Robert E. (Edwyna) Ivey of Andalusia, and Thomas (Jean) Frazer of Montgomery; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank Dwayne Lane (Rosemary) of Jacksonville, Fla.; cousin, Mrs. Mamie Ruth Lane of Andalusia and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lane of Route 1, Georgiana, and Heskew Lane, a cousin, of Andalusia.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Evergreen High School in 1946.

She was an active member of the Whitesburg Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school, was a member of the senior citizen church choir, a participant in the homebound ministry and other activities at the church.

She retired from BellSouth after 38 years of service and served as a Pioneer volunteer for many years.

She received her 25-year pin for volunteering at Huntsville Hospital.

Visitation was held Mon., Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and funeral services were at 11 a.m. at Whitesburg Church, followed by graveside services at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta.

Dr. Jimmey Jackson and the Rev. Emerson Lyle officiated at the funeral service.
