Will Dalton, Ethan Townsend, Cambria Hollon and Cade Cassady were plumb worn about after spending the first 100 days in the classroom.

It’s official – the school year is half over. On Thursday, students at Andalusia Elementary School celebrated 100 days of school. State law mandates that students attend 180 days in the classroom, and simple math shows the countdown to summer break is on the downward slide – which is exactly the concept behind the day’s celebration.

AES kindergarten teachers said by incorporating the study of 100 days of school, staff reinforce the state standards for the math curriculum.

Events included kindergarteners dressing up as 100-year-old residents, while other classes sharing a culmination of 100 items such as candy, pennies and toys. More photos are found inside the lifestyles section of the Sat., Jan. 26, edition.
