Luke Taylor of Kinston won All-Around Cowboy in the Alabama High School Rodeo Association’s 2013 Bama Challenge rodeo last weekend at the Covington Center Arena.

AHSRA President Jerry Varner said the three-day event, which featured cowboys and cowgirls from Alabama, Florida and Georgia, went well.

“Alabama-Georgia was pretty even throughout,” Varner said. “The crowd was good. Everything went pretty smooth.”

Taylor won the average in calf roping and team roping to win the all around cowboy award.

Additionally, the rodeo held a blood drive and fundraiser, where 14 pints of blood and $1,400 were collected and raised, Varner said.

Varner gave a big “thank you” for all the support that helped make the rodeo possible.
