GROVER WALTHA FINDLEY

Grover Waltha Findley, 86, of Andalusia, died Sat., April 6, 2013, in a local nursing facility.

He was born April 13,1926, in River Falls.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., today, Tues., April 9, at Carolina Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Cook officiating and Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Findley, and parents, Grover Clad Findley and Estelle Cobb Findley.

He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for many years in the U. S. Civil Service at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery and served in the 908th Airlift Wing of the United States Air Force Reserve.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Merle Jordan Findley; daughter, Beverly Findley (Mike) Gibson; grandchildren, Dylan Skye Gibson and Elinor Frances Gibson; a sister, June Findley Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or charity of one’s choice.

 

DORIS MILDRED ROBERTS LUSH

Doris Mildred (Roberts) Lush, 93, passed away on Sun., April 7, 2013, at Cindy’s Personal Care Home in Westfield, Pa.

Born Sept. 15, 1919, in Bloomsburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Carleton A. and Mildred (Lore) Roberts. She was a graduate of the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing and was employed by the Galeton Area School District as the school nurse for many years. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton and has served as an elder and a deacon through the years. She enjoyed reading, listening to books on tape in recent years, and traveling with her late husband of 64 years, Charles H. Lush.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Stephens of Andalusia; two grandsons, Darrell (Beth) Stephens of Stroudsburg, Pa., and Neil (Karolina) Nordquist, Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Carl (Linda) Roberts of Coudersport, Pa.; and two nephews, Thomas and Jeff Roberts.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her daughter, Donna G. Nordquist, and son-in-law, Ernest Stephens.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Galeton, Pa.
