200 acres to be sold today

Nearly 200 acres of Covington County land is scheduled to be sold at auction today.

Jack Granger of Granger, Thagard and Associates auction house, said the “absolute auction” will feature 30 parcels ranging from upward from five acres, with each located along U.S. Hwy. 29 North in the Heath Community.

“The great thing about these properties is the location,” Granger said. “It’s located just outside of Andalusia, near Gantt and Pt. A lakes and in the Straughn school district.”

Granger described the parcels as “farmettes” consisting of five acres or more of land, and two with a brick home and a large metal storage building.

Granger said the property owner, John Tisdale Jr., is selling the property.

“Absolute auction means it’s going to sell, regardless,” Granger said. “The owner has other investments he’d like to make and doesn’t have a need for the property anymore. I think it will be an interesting and exciting sale. We’ve had a lot of interest, but in cases like this, it’s never enough, so we’re looking forward to (today).”

The auction will be held at David’s Catfish House, beginning at 1 p.m. Bidders are asked to arrive 20 minutes early to ensure adequate time for registration.
