Florala’s coaches challenged the Wildcats at half time Friday night, and what they got was a better result despite a loss to Geneva County.

The Bulldogs went ahead 27-0 at the break and only managed one first down against a rejuvenated Wildcats team in the final 24 minutes.

“We challenged our kids to compete,” FHS head football coach Bubba Nall said. “I was proud of the way they played. I think we can build off of that.”

With this loss, the Wildcats fall to 1-1 overall, and 0-1 in Class 1A, Region 2.

Nall said GCHS has a good football team.

“They’re well coached. They got after us (in the first half),” he said. “It was in the second half of the J.U. Blacksher game last year when the lights came on for us. Maybe this is when they come on for us this year.”

FHS had 205 total yards on offense for the night.

The Wildcats travel to Brantley next week.
