As if there wasn’t any surprise at all, Andalusia found itself in this week’s top 10 in Class 4A of the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll, which was released today.

The Bulldogs, now ranked No. 9, beat then 10th-ranked Thomasville 20-17 last week in a come-from-behind effort.

AHS (4-0, 3-0 in Class 4A, Region 1) visits Opp this week for its 70th meeting.

Straughn defeated Cottage Hill 39-0 last week to jump a notch to No. 6.

The ASWA, who also releases a weekly Player of the Week poll, gave props to Andalusia senior linebacker Montel Lee, who racked up 14 tackles in the win over THS.
