Police seek help identifying 2 couples

Two duos are wanted locally not only for an early morning heist of approximately $12,000 in small electronics from the Andalusia Wal-Mart, but also a similar crime in Pensacola, Fla.

Sgt. Jason Curry with the Andalusia Police Department said the two couples – each a black male and a black female – entered the local retail store at 12:35 a.m. Thursday morning.

“And walked out with a $12,000 assortment of small electronic items concealed under their clothes,” Curry said. “At the beginning of our investigation, we discovered that at 9:30 p.m., the four went into the Pensacola Wal-Mart and did the same thing and stole a variety of electronic items from there.”

Curry said at the Andalusia store, a clerk noticed the theft as the group was exiting the store. They fled in a light grey 2005 Volvo XC-90 SUV.

“Right now, we’re trying to identify them, and attempt to put together a connection with other Wal-Mart stores that may have been a target of the same crime,” he said.

Curry was able to obtain video surveillance footage of the crimes; however, those responsible have not been identified.

“You can see from the footage that when they came in their clothes fit normally and the females’ purses were empty,” Curry said. “When they leave, you can see the clothes are tight and the purses are full.

“I feel certain they’re not from around here, but you never know,” he said.
