Tigers beat Bulldogs 63-57; Scott has 3-pointer night

Straughn’s Brice Scott had another six 3-pointer night Saturday in the Tigers’ 63-57 victory over rival Andalusia at AHS.

Scott led all SHS scorers with 24 points in the win on a night after a 21-point performance against Excel.

The Bulldogs had to work from behind the majority of the game, coming back from as far as 20 points down.

AHS trailed by 18 points at halftime, and had a better second half, SHS coach Rusty Andrews said.

“They rebounded the al real well,” Andrews said about the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs, known for always fighting back, cut the game to three points at the tail end of the game.

However, AHS was forced to foul the Tigers, hoping for a chance to eek out the win.

Despite the loss, Andalusia had four players finish in double figures.

Jayden Ellison led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Phillip James had 15 points; Montel Lee had 14 points; and Kendarius Townsend had 10 points.

Straughn’s JD Driver chipped in 19 points. Devin Scott added nine points for the Tigers.

In B-team action, the Tigers won 35-29.

Jonathan Driver led SHS with 14 points.

Ke’Shun Townsend, Zach Woods and Ian Peek had seven points each for AHS.

Straughn played Red Level last night in regular season action, and hosts Georgiana tonight.

Andalusia is back in action tonight against Carroll-Ozark at home.
