Messick gives Huntingdon doubleheader split

Former Straughn Lady Tiger and LBWCC Lady Saint Katy Messick struck out three and scattered six hits to help lead Huntingdon College to a 3-1 victory over Berry College in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks fell 15-3 in their first game in five innings.

The second game was Messick’s first win of the season. Additionally, she went 2-for-4 from the plate. Her scored run came in the third inning on a Morgan Goshorn single.

In game one, Holly Ostrander and Heather McGuirk scored on former Saints players Tiffany Taylor and AC Riley’s ground outs. Taylor also played at SHS, while Riley dished it out on the diamond at Andalusia.

Huntingdon College returns to action at home on Thursday, where the Lady Hawks host Spring Hill, who is the second-ranked team in the NAIA, in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
