JANIE B. MCADORY-MARSHALL

Sis. Janie B. McAdory-Marshall was born March 5, 1930, in Covington County to the late Deforest and Octavia McAdory. She departed this Mon., June 16, 2014.

McAdory-Marshall married the late Leroy Marshall and was the mother of two loving children, Oscar (Sonya) McAdory of Jacksonville, Fla. and Carol (Dominic) of Accokeek, Md.

McAdory-Marshall confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in September 1942. She was baptized by the Rev. D.A. Harrison. There, she remained a faithful member until her health failed. Her lifetime commitment to her church included serving 29 years on the Courtesy Committee; 16 years on the Program

Committee; and 21 years as the Benevolent Treasurer. She also held various positions at the church including: chief usher; administrator of the nurses guild; reported for Ward No. 7; deaconesss in deed; secretary/treasurer for the building fund; and was a faithful member of the adult choir.

McAdory-Marshall completed her high school education in 1947 at the Covington County Training School. She then attended the Parker High branch of Alabama State College in Birmingham. After two years of college, she taught school in Covington and Butler counties. In 1950, she was employed as a nurses assistant, a position she held until 1974, when health problems forced her to retire.

Lovingly called, “Mama Janie” and “Granny,” she was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Jean Sessions, Novella Grace and Nellvonia Payne. She leaves to cherish her memory, a brother, John (Donna) McAdory, of Cleveland; a sister, Annie (Otis) of Andalusia; six grandchildren, Felix, Felice, Franklin and Brandon McAdory, all of Jacksonville, Nicole Scott of Ft. Washington, Md. And Shannon Johnson of Panama City, Panama; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four God children, Stanley Curry, Jenell Gandy, Melodie Feagin and Carter James; three “adopted” sons, Robert Warthen, Ozell Crittenden and the Rev. George Brown; seven “adopted” daughters, Adell Crittenden, Deadria Dodson, Ruth Freeney, Diane Shephard, Janet Speer, Bertha Stephens and Dorothy Stroud. She also leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

CHAD MURRAY PLANT

Chad Murray Plant, 33, of Marianna, Fla., passed away Thurs., June 19, 2014. Chad was born on Dec. 8, 1980, in Pensacola, Fla. to Gary and Sandy Plant and spent his life growing up in Marianna. He was a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Geomatics and had a career as a surveyor. Chad was an avid golfer and a fan of Auburn University Athletics.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother; paternal grandfather, Woodrow Plant; paternal grandmother, Pete Plant; step-grandmother, Howellene Plant; maternal grandparents, J. Murray King and Dorothy King; and an uncle, Jimmy King.

Chad is survived by his parents, Gary and Sandy Plant; a daughter, Ellie Grace Plant; wife, Vickie Lally Plant; brother, Justin (Asya) Plant; uncle, Tim (Vickey) Plant; niece, Joelie Plant; cousins, Elizabeth Plant and Austin Plant. Chad is also survived by a host of family and friends from the tri-states area.

A graveside service will be held Sun., June 22, at 2 p.m. in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Plant officiating.

Serving as Chad’s pallbearers will be Jonathan Swearingen, Hunter Nolen, Garyn Waller, Matt Milton, Mitchell Russ and Austin Plant. Honorary pallbearer is the late Mike Miller.

HENRY GOODWIN  PIGGOTT

Henry Goodwin Piggott, 74, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., June 19, 2014, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sun., June 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Glenn Vaughn will officiate. Special music will be provided by Dawn Arnold. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. today, Sat., June 21.

He is survived by a son, William (Billy) and Sherry Piggott of Andalusia; daughters, Norma (Lamar) Williamson of Red Level and Amy (Mike) Park of Andalusia; brother, Tommie Piggott of Austin, Texas; sisters, Willodean Carpenter of Spanish Fort, Mary Oliver of Helena and Fayelene Godwin of Harlem, Ga; grandchildren, Marlee Williamson, Katie Williamson, Will Piggott, Meg Turner, Sarah Piggott, Emma Piggott, Annie Park, Lauren Brawner, Jamie Park and Jessica Park.

Henry was preceded in death by his father, Bill Piggott; mother, Myrtle Piggott; and brothers, Bobbie (Billie) Piggott and James Piggott.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Ladon Carpenter and David Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, Braxton Tolbert, Clint Goodwin and a grandson, Will Piggott

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Paul Majors, Rogene Bush, Buddy O’Farrell and C. L. Smith.

SANDRA NEILL ALBRITTON

A memorial service will be held for Sandra Neill Albritton Robinson, Tues., June 24, 2014, at 11a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Andalusia.

Hattie Ruth Ramer Ray, 82, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., June 18, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Fri., June 20 at Foreman Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sharpe and the Rev. Robert Canant officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Cemetery.

Ray is survived by her son, Randy (Laurie) Ray of Opp; daughters, Joni Ray (Dale) Bozeman and Jennifer Ray (Richard) Williamson, both of Dozier; grandchildren, Stephanie (Kyle) Ballard, Tiffany (Cody) Brannon, Brittany (Billy) McBride, Slade Wicker and Brandon Ray; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Ed) Ballard of Rose Hill, Dorothy (Hinton) Stanley of Opp and Eva (Raymond) Johnson of Bay Minette; and brothers, Earl (Carol) Ramer of Panama City and Ed Ramer of Opp.

Robert Joseph Underfinger III, 18, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., June 16, 2014, in Donley County, Texas.

Funeral services will be held today, Sat., June 21, at 2 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Stone Lake Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

WILLIAM BUSTER APLIN

William Buster Aplin, 94, of Florala, passed away Wed., June 18, 2014, at Mizell Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be today, Sat., June 21, at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home chapel with Bro. William Tucker Aplin officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Aplin is survived by a daughter, Vicki (James) Akers of Florala and numerous nieces and nephews.
