VERA MERLE CROSS

Mrs. Vera Merle Cross, 77, formerly of Andalusia, died Sun., Nov. 16, 2014, in an Irving, Texas, hospital, surrounded by family.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cross will be held Thurs., Nov. 20, at 11a.m. from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Carolina Cemetery. Visitation will be one-hour prior to services.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1936 to parents ,Aaron Teel and Bessie Harrelson Teel in Andalusia. Vera was a retired supervisor with Sunny South Fashions in Dallas, and was a vibrant member of Heart of Worship Baptist Church in Irving, Texas. She will be dearly missed by all of her family.

Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband, Cecil E. Cross of Irving; sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Cross of Irving and Jerry and Gayla Cross of Gun Barrel City, Texas; sisters, Mary Ethel Brooks, Marie Armstrong and France Patterson all of Andalusia; brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Sherry Teel of Andalusia; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

OPAL OVERSTREET STONE RADFORD

Mrs. Opal Overstreet Stone Radford, passed with peace and grace on Nov., 16, 2014, two days before her 93rd birthday, with her family at her side, after a long illness.

Opal was born in Dixie. She attended Damascus ELHI and Troy State Teacher’s College. She taught at Henly Roberts ELHI before being employed by the Andalusia City School System, where she worked until her retirement on July 1, 1986. After her retirement, Opal was active in Duplicate Bridge, enjoyed fishing, working in her garden and yard and reading a good book. She was a longtime member of the Andalusia First Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Karthaus officiating. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Radford is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Earl and Janice Stone of Knoxville, Tenn., and Edward L. “Pete” and Mary Lynn Stone of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Roy Jansson of Farmington, Ark.; grandchildren, Christopher Jansson, Michael Jansson, Sara Stone Armstrong, Rebekah Stone Fusco, John David Stone, Amie Stone Spirko and Charles Russell Stone; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased in death by husband and father of her children, Elasker L. Stone and husband, Flournoy Radford in 1984.

EVA VIRGINIA WATERS

Ms. Eva Virginia Waters, 77, of Andalusia, died Fri., Nov. 14, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mrs. Waters is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Debbie St. Jean and Janet and Dewayne Morris, all of Andalusia; grandchildren, Christy St. Jean, Kevin Watts and Michael Watts; great-grandchildren, Karsyn Watts, Lakyn Stokes and Dalton Henigan; sister, Lugene Imms of Dalton, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will included Dewayne Morris, Kevin Watts, Michael Watts, Josh Sightler, Vance Millines and Vernon Millines.

BILLY GENE BOYKIN

Mr. Billy Gene Boykin, 73, of Andalusia, died on Thurs., Nov. 13, 2014.

Funeral services were held Sun., Nov. 16, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Glen Vaughn and the Rev. Billy Boles officiated.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Craig; sons, James Boykin and Gary Boykin; grandsons, Wesley Craig and David Boykin; granddaughters, Carol Boykin and Suzie Boykin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Debra Moore, Kenny and Debbie Moore and Mike and Dana Moore; and nieces and nephews, Dawn Cate and Piper Cate, Donna and Scott Boykin, Evan and Nick Moore, Kyleigh Curry, Dalton and Sam Boykin and Brandon and Ashley Price. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Boykin; father, James Boykin; and mother and step-father, Florence and Lewis Moore.

GEORGE “REED” DAVIS

Mr. George “Reed” Davis, 57, of Andalusia, died on Thurs., Nov. 13, 2014, at his residence.

A graveside service was held Mon., Nov. 17, at the Goodhope Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Twyla Petty Davis; son, George Bradley Davis; step-son, Michael Chad Petty; step-granddaughter, Ripley A. Petty; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Bobby Davis; and a niece, Candace Davis and her children. He was preceded in death by his parents, George O. and Marion Tommie Davis.
