The Andalusia Bulldogs soccer team fell to the Enterprise Wildcats 1-0 Thursday night at home.

“I was disappointed in the outcome tonight,” Bulldogs’ coach Tim Ramsden said. “We came out flat, and didn’t look like we wanted to play hard.”

The Bulldogs and the Wildcats went back and forth down the field, but neither could get a goal in the first half of the contest.

The Bulldogs pushed the ball down the field well a few times, but couldn’t sneak anything by the Wildcats’ goalie.

Wain Yongkuma had a few shots in the first half that just missed going into the net.

Yongkuma’s first shot was a rocket that hit the top bar, and kicked out in front of the goal.

A few minutes later, Yongkuma got off another strong shot, but the Wildcats’ goalie blocked the attempt.

Ben Jackson made several stops at goalie for the Bulldogs in the first half.

Jackson’s first save of the game came on a magnificent dive to his left, stopping the ball just before it crossed the line.

Jackson made another strong save later in the first half to keep the game scoreless at the half.

The Wildcats managed to sneak a shot by Jackson early in the second half for the game’s only goal.

The Wildcats kept pressure on the Bulldogs’ side of the field, but Jackson managed several more stops to kept the Bulldogs within one.

Adam Peek almost tied the game up for the Bulldogs, but a solid stop by the Wildcats’ goalkeeper keep the score 1-0.

The Bulldogs’ narrowly missed another goal when Kiki Wain passed the ball to Yongkuma in the middle of the box, but another strong stop by the Wildcats’ goalie saved the goal and sealed a 1-0 win.

“We knew that to beat them we would need to out hustle, and out work them,” Ramsden said. “We needed to play with more intensity, and we have to talk a lot more. We were very quiet out there tonight.”

The Bulldogs will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Enterprise to battle the Wildcats. The game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
