At the worst, Sue Mathis of Florala just had a great weekend with her four daughters – Gaye Burleson, Suzanne Hunt, Autumn Jones, and Aaron Norman.

At best, the fun-filled weekend earned them a chance to appear on national television and win up to $100,000.

The group traveled to Atlanta this weekend to audition for “Family Feud,” a trip they made after submitting a video of themselves doing a cheer and being invited to advance to the next level of auditions.

“We had a chance to play two rounds,” Mathis said. “They told us it didn’t matter if we won or lost, they were looking for people who were energetic and fun.”

While it might not have been a requirement, Mathis said she and the girls won both rounds, which went “really, really fast.”

In the first round, they were asked what states had the strongest Southern accent. Their opponents buzzed in first with “Georgia,” But Team Mathis got the No. 1 answer, “Alabama,” and went on to win the round.

In the second round, they were asked “What things are Eskimos famous for?” Team Mathis prevailed again.

The team members also completed questionnaires about their family, and photographed them.

“There were four rooms full of families auditioning,” Mathis said.

The family expects an answer in about three weeks.

“We had a festive weekend,” she said. “The experience was enjoyable. When we told our waiter at Waffle House what we were going to do, he took our picture, so we decided we already had our own groupie.”
