Opp celebrates their South Regional qualifier win.

The Opp Lady Bobcats (25-12-1) have breezed their way into the AHSAA Class 3A state softball tournament in Montgomery, after winning five-straight playoff games leading up to state.

As the South Region top qualifier, the Lady Bobcats will face the No.4-ranked Colbert Heights (41-5) in the first round of the state tournament, who finished at the second qualifier from the North Region.

The Lady Bobcats have used tremendous pitching, and stellar defense to get to the state tournament.

In the previous five playoff games, the Lady Bobcats have only given up one run, and that came in a 4-1 victory over Slocomb in the first qualifying-game of the South Regional.

The Lady Bobcats have relied a lot on their three strong pitchers, who usually all pitch a few innings each game.

Anna Harrelson has been used mainly as the starting pitcher, and has done well all season to give the Lady Bobcats a chance in each game.

Katlynn Schively is usually the next pitcher to take the mound for the Lady Bobcats, and has also done a great job of keeping the opponents off balanced at the plate.

Courtney Chatham handles most of the closing duties for the Lady Bobcats, and has been one of the toughest pitchers on the roster, according to opposing coaches. Chatham has also worked as a starting pitcher for the Lady Bobcats, and threw a perfect game in the Class 3A, Area 2 championship game against T.R. Miller.

First pitch for the Lady Bobcats first game will be at 10:30 a.m. today. If the Lady Bobcats win the first game, they will play again at 7 p.m. today. If they lose the first game, they will play at 3 p.m.
